Things people ask us

No. MoKont works whether you're VAT registered or not. If you're not yet registered, invoices won't show a VAT number. When you register with the MRA and get your VAT number, just add it to your profile and all your invoices update automatically.
No. MoKont is an independent invoicing tool built by a Mauritian developer. It applies MRA rules automatically (15% VAT rate, correct invoice structure) but is not affiliated with or endorsed by the MRA. For official guidance, always visit mra.mu.
MoKont shows an estimate of income tax at 15% on your pre-VAT subtotal. This helps you set aside the right amount — not a full tax assessment. Mauritius income tax depends on your total income, deductions, and other factors. Always consult a qualified accountant for your actual return.
Yes. If you're in one of the professions listed in the Tenth Schedule of the VAT Act (engineers, architects, lawyers, accountants, consultants and more), you must register for VAT regardless of turnover. Apply at mra.mu. MoKont will display your VAT details on all invoices once registered.
20 days after the end of each month or quarter. If you file and pay electronically, you get an extra 10 days. For quarterly filers (under Rs. 10M): Q1 due 20 April, Q2 due 20 July, Q3 due 20 October, Q4 due 20 January. Late filing attracts penalties of Rs. 2,000 per month up to Rs. 20,000.
Yes! MoKont is fully responsive and works in Safari and Chrome on any device. Open it on your phone and it works like a native app — you can even add it to your home screen from Safari ("Add to Home Screen") for a full-screen experience.
Yes. MoKont is powered by Supabase — a secure, encrypted cloud database with automatic backups. Your invoices are protected with row-level security, meaning only you can access your data. We don't sell or share your data with third parties.
